IPL skin treatments

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a non-invasive skin treatment used to improve acne, redness, sun damage, and uneven pigmentation. It works by delivering pulses of broad-spectrum light into the skin, where different wavelengths target specific concerns such as acne-causing bacteria, excess oil activity, redness, and melanin (pigment). The light energy gently heats the skin, triggering natural healing and collagen production while improving overall skin clarity and tone.

For acne treatment, IPL targets the bacteria responsible for breakouts and helps calm inflammation and redness. The light also reduces overactive sebaceous (oil) glands, which lowers the chances of future breakouts. Over a series of treatments, clients often notice fewer active spots, reduced redness, and smoother skin texture.

For pigmentation and sun damage, IPL breaks down excess melanin that causes dark spots, age spots, freckles, and uneven skin tone. The pigmented areas gradually darken and then flake away as the skin naturally renews itself, revealing a brighter and more even complexion. IPL is commonly used to treat sun spots, hyperpigmentation, rosacea-related redness, and overall dull skin.

A typical session begins with cleansing the skin and applying a cooling gel. A handheld device then delivers quick flashes of light across the treatment area. The sensation is usually described as a warm snap, and most sessions take 20–45 minutes depending on the area treated. A course of 3–6 sessions spaced a few weeks apart is usually recommended for best results.

After treatment, mild redness or warmth may occur for a few hours. Pigmented spots may temporarily darken before fading, which is a normal part of the process. Sun protection is essential after IPL, along with avoiding heat treatments and strong skincare for a few days. With consistent sessions and good aftercare, IPL can significantly improve acne, reduce redness, and create a brighter, clearer, and more even-looking complexion.
